CBC Music Class Contest

BY O. SHAHID

Mr. Carson-Foster’s Grade 9 music class recently presented their music skills in a video uploaded by CBC Music to Youtube. This group of talented young individuals specialize in Jazz, and have been practicing with Mr. Carson-Foster once a week since the beginning of the semester. The Youtube video was their contest entry to the Canada’s Greatest Music Class competition offered by CBC, which ran from October 26th to November 30th. Participants of this competition are asked to choose a song from a list of songs, and then perform it in a unique way.

In the video, these hard working individuals performed a version of the Crabbuckit created by Mr. Carson-Foster himself. The dedication of Mr. Carson-Foster and this group of Grade 9 students is quite evident in the youtube video. The form, the uniformity, and timing of this musical group is exceptional, and these individuals should definitely have the chance to perform in front an audience so that they can be applauded for the effort they put into their performances. Furthermore, the video features saxophone and guitar solos that are quite well done, alongside  some excellent drumming.

Mr. Carson-Foster is thankful to CBC Music for providing this Grade 9 class with a platform to present their musical abilities. So far the video featuring the Grade 9 music class has about 400 views, but we are positive that the video will gain  more views soon. MD is proud of this group of talented young individuals, and would like to congratulate them on their success. We hope that the Music Department at our school will carry on with their efforts, and continue to make us proud.
