What a wonderful start to the year….so much accomplished and we are only half way. Some of the highlights from Semester 1 include Wilderness North for our Grade 10 students and Grade 12 Leaders. The positive impact of this experience for students can be seen by our community everyday within the classrooms and the hallways of the school. Empowering the Bystander for our Grade 9’s and Faces of Faith for our Grade 11’s has given the students the confidence and encouragement to stand up and speak up for what is right and make a positive contribution to our school culture. College and University fairs and Take Your Kids to Work Day continue to inform our students about the myriad of possibilities that await them after high school. There are still so many adventures and opportunities awaiting our students in Semester 2.
On a daily basis, I see our students being actively engaged in the school academically and socially. We are very proud of their ongoing academic achievement in Semester 1 and are confident that it will continue for the remainder of the school year. Students are participating in sports, clubs and activities and are contributing their thoughts through ongoing Student Voice Initiatives.
Our heartfelt thank you to Mr. Keith Pearce, a longtime teacher and coach at MDHS and a lifetime Mustang! After more than 30 years in education Mr. Pearce has retired. We wish him the very best in this next chapter of his journey. Chi Meegwetch Mr. Pearce, your Mustang Family will miss you.
We are looking forward to our students’ continued involvement and success in Semester 2. It is such an honour to watch them develop into healthy young adults and contributing members of our society.
