Approximately 49.6% of the world’s population is female, so of course, they deserve the love, respect, and aid you would give to anyone else. On October 11th, 2012, the UN declared the day as International Day of the Girl, a youth-led movement to promote gender equality and youth activism for everyone, no matter their age, race, or gender identity.

As the UN stated, our 1.1 billion girls are sources for creativity, innovation, and power. Within that billion, there are millions of girls in disasters and emergency situations who deserve the same rights and help anyone else would receive. The Day of the Girl’s main focus is to ensure aid can be given to any girl before, during; and after crises, hoping to give girls all over the world equal chances and equal opportunities.
