Super Smash Bros. Tournaments at MD

BY MAIJA SHEA

So far, the brand new gaming club has been a success with its after school meetings every Wednesday and Thursday. There are more than enough members to have a great time, but new members are always welcome. The student gamers of MDHS and the legendary Mr. Arseneau have been competing against each other in weekly tournaments of the popular video game Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii U. The game is projected on the board and a player is eliminated every match. From there, the winner faces off with other winners, until a sole victor remains.

There have been two of these weekly tournaments so far, and the first was won by Mr. Arseneau who takes lots of pride in his spectacular Smash Bros. skills. However, his winning streak came to an end when he was eliminated in the first round and a Pikachu-playing wonder claimed victory for last week’s tournament. Looks like Mr. Arseneau’s pride was smashed! Despite the loss, he still continues to have confidence in the older game, Super Smash Bros. Melee to the point where he gives prizes to those who can defeat him.

This Thursday, the next tournament will be hosted, and it’s very likely to continue for the following weeks. If you think you’re up for the challenge or you just want to watch and have a good time, then stop by this week and sign up when you arrive; there will be unlimited openings! Contrarily, if you want to play a different game rather than play in the tournament this Thursday, you are welcome to do so much like many students have prefered to do that for the past couple of weeks.

A new challenger approaches, and that challenger could be you. Come on out this Thursday to the gaming club in room 111 with potential victory in your hands. Your fellow Mustang gamers hope to see you there.
