On Monday, December 11th, MDHS took their annual trip to the Miracle on Main Street event. With food provided by Troy’s Diner and tons of support from the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation, it was a success yet again. Many other organizations helped out too, such as the Salvation Army, Halton Women’s Place, the Toronto SickKids Hospital and McMaster Children’s Hospital.
The aim of the event is for each person who participates to bring a new toy or non-perishable food item for families in the area who can’t afford to buy their own this holiday season. $20 000 in total was raised for the Halton Learning Foundation, and two trailers were filled all the way with toys and food items.

Only about twenty students joined in on this trip, each of which brought their toy and enjoyed the joyous holiday environment of the event. There was plenty of free food and hot drinks for everyone, and other fun attractions too. Local choirs and groups performed on the stage live, and pony rides were an option for younger children. The big ferris wheel could be seen from blocks away, and the huge line indicated that it was a definite must have for next year.

Miracle on Main Street is a way to give back to the community while also having a fun time. The turnout of students may have been low, however, it is a must-go for at least one of a Mustang’s high school years. Give back to your community and stop by the one-day event next year!
