On September 28th, the Health and Wellness students taking the SHSM this semester visited the University of Guelph to tour their Human Anatomy Lab.

The trip bus left at 8:40 am, taking the students to the University of Guelph. The bus was shared with Health and Wellness SHSM students from Robert Bateman High School in Burlington.

There, Milton District students first visited the Human Anatomy Lab, where they got to see and touch real human organs. They had a chance to explore the different parts and systems of the human body as well as a chance to study some pathophysiology (the study of the physiological process related to a disease or injury).

These organs came from generous organ donors, who selflessly gave themselves to education and science. Their faces were never revealed to anyone, out of respect for the organ donors.

After the anatomy lab and a quick lunch, the students were taken on a tour of the university campus. They got to see the different buildings, lecture halls, cafeterias, residents, and the library. They also learned about the history of the University of Guelph, and some of the traditions of the university.

After a long and tiring day, the students finally came back to MD at 3:00pm. Having gained lots of knowledge about human anatomy and physiology, as well as a little knowledge about pathophysiology, the students were very happy with how their day went!
