From November 5th to 9th, Treaty Recognition Week was acknowledged throughout Canada, as well as some classrooms at Milton District. The week was to recognize the treaties that exist in Canada and to understand the land which was taken from Indigenous peoples throughout the last centuries played in the making of our country.
Taking place during the first week of November, Treaty Recognition week was first introduced in 2016, and is now used to educate Ontarians about the importance and impact that the treaties hold in our province.
