Three special guests will be joining this Monday’s School Council meeting to discuss recent concerns about student safety during morning and afternoon blitzes in MD’s parking lots.
As there is no sidewalk from the bus drop-off area to the front doors of the school, students are forced to walk across the parking lot. This stops traffic flow, preventing cars from dropping-off students or getting out of the parking lot.
In addition, many students don’t look to see if there are cars coming in their direction while crossing the parking lot. There have been numerous near-misses between students and cars.
Parents are invited to attend the School Council meeting on Monday at 6:30 p.m in the Library.
Ward 1 Town Councillor Kristina Tesser Derksen will attend on behalf of the Town of Milton. She was elected for the first time in October’s municipal election.
Constable N. Bowes will be present on behalf of the Halton Regional Police Service. He is the Community Officer for Milton District High School.
Trustee Donna Danielli will be at the meeting as a representative from the Halton District School Board. She is the HDSB Trustee for Wards 1 and 2 in Milton.
Student safety is the goal of all three attendees.
