Earlier this month, the Living Cultures classes and additional students were invited to go on a trip to Downtown Toronto to experience the communities that have been developed by immigrants who came to Canada in the past.
It was a great experience where students were led on a walking tour around distinctive Chinatown and Kensington Market and learned about the history of vibrant areas such as Little Italy and Little Portugal.
It was an in-depth tour that discussed the growth of various families and communities in Toronto and how they have affected the multiculturalism and diversity of the GTA as a whole.
After the tour, the group was allowed to split off and experience some of the cultural foods and stores themselves. What a fantastic trip!
