Nabeha Hafiz •

One of the three candidates running for the position of HDSB Student Trustee from Milton District is Kacy Bao. In this interview she has given us some more information about herself and her campaign. Read all about her platform below!

Tell us a little bit about yourself! Any hobbies, interests, or skills?

I am very passionate about STEM and the Arts! I am a part of Milton District’s MIB program, DECA, Mustang Messenger, peer tutoring, and more. I enjoy drawing, running, reading, and playing a variety of instruments in my free time.

Why did you decide to run for Student Trustee?

I decided to run for Student Trustee because not all of our student voices are being heard and I want to make sure that everyone has a voice here in the HDSB.

What’s your plan for the 2020–21 school year?

My plan for the upcoming school year is organized using four pillars: Student Voice, Sustainability, Student Involvement, and Mental Health. If you would like to read more about what I plan to do within those pillars, you can check out my Intsagram account (@kacybao_hdsb) for further information.

How do you plan on making this happen?

I plan to make this happen by working alongside the board (my fellow Student Trustee, the Trustees, and Superintendent) as well as gaining input from the students of Halton themselves for what they would like to see happen in our school board so that I can best represent them and what every single person in the school board needs.

Why do you think people should vote for you?

I hope that people will vote for me because I am a very hardworking and goal oriented person who will listen and I strive to create real change in the HDSB.

Don’t miss the chance to vote on Tuesday, Februrary 25, from 7:45 pm to 9:00 pm, for the 2020–21 HDSB Student Trustees!
