What is Relay for Life?

Every year Milton District High School holds a fundraising event in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society called Relay For Life. Through this event we raise awareness for cancer and funds that go towards cancer research and support for the thousands of Canadians affected by cancer.

What does the event look like?

Relay for Life is typically a large-scale event with many fun games and activities that run for several hours after school. However, this year, due to the necessary adaptations made to ensure the safety of those in the MD community the event will be fully held virtually. Regardless, the MDHS Relay for Life committee is trying their best to create a good experience for those who participate. If you check the MD Relay for Life Instagram you can see that there are still many things being planned for this year’s event.

How to participate:

The Relay for Life event will be taking place at the start of June and is open to all who sign up through the MDHS Relay for Life website (https://relayforlife.ca/md). Those who sign up will also be placed into  weekly raffles and given the option to participate in an ongoing burger and fries partner fundraising contest. In addition to this, the Relay committee is also holding a Relay for Life Game Night, which is taking place in May and is open to all students that sign up and donate. Similar to the previous game nights held by the Medlife committee, students will be able to play games, socialize, and win prizes!

Even if you can not participate in any of these events, we strongly encourage those who can to consider donating to the Canadian Cancer Society and contribute what you can, as cancer patients and their families still require support, especially now more than ever.
