On Tuesday October 18th, Dan Dawson and Adam Jay from the Toronto Rock Lacrosse Team visited MD to talk to our NBE3C students. Their presentation covered the Indigenous legacy of lacrosse and their own personal experiences with the sport.
After learning together, the players took the staff and students outside to the football field to try out and practice various lacrosse drills.
Dan and Adam were very inspirational, useful and informative, teaching moves such as picking up a ball, cradling, catching, passing and running with the ball. As one student put it, “[i]t was a great experience for the students to learn about the Indigenous legacy of lacrosse, it’s connection to Canadian culture, and how the game can positively impact their lives”.
A special thank you to Dan Dawson and Adam Jay from the Toronto Rock Lacrosse School Program, and we hope to see them back at MD in the near future.
