On October 27th, 2022, MD saw yet another successful Arts Café.
A night filled with music, theatrics and visual arts, Milton District High School held its annual Arts Café from 6:30pm to 8:30pm presented by the students and faculty of MDHS. Held in the cafeteria with free entry and refreshments, nearly every seat was filled with students, parents and staff.
Hosted by Mr. Cummings, the night commenced with a funky cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” by four senior students. Other notable acts included Afton’s stunning cover of “River”, Gabriella and Jeffery’s rendition of “Wanted Dead or Alive”, Dante’s gorgeous cover of “When I was your Man” as well as a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back in Black” by Sania, Yazmin, Sylvie, and Ranvir. Teachers Mr. Cummings, Mr. Carson-Foster, Ms. Welbourn and Mr. WIlson showed off their talent as well, singing an impressive cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.”
Along with the musical performances, there were several pieces of art showcased around the room. Some of the art students created three dimensional cats that were placed on each table. At the end of the night, all of the attendees had to vote for their favourite cat.
Overall, the night was a massive success. The audience loved the acts, and the event showcased some of the talents of the MDHS art department. A big thank you to the MDHS faculty, all of the student volunteers, performers and of course, everyone who attended. We cannot wait to see what next year’s Arts Café has to offer!
