“After taking a year off from high school to work, and finalize my career choice, I can now say that I am fully certified for personal training as well as group training despite just turning 20 a couple months ago!
“Right now, I’m doing my own thing as an entrepreneur, which is fun for me since business is what I originally wanted to study. (I was a recipient of the MDHS business award after taking every business course except for grade 12 accounting.)
I will be taking my career to the next level when I accept a position as a personal trainer at the end of May (which is when I will graduate from Humber College). Something that I tell younger people often is the fact that you should not rush yourself when it comes to your career path. You learn more about yourself as you age, so unless you are 100% certain that your career choice is your passion, there is no shame in taking a year off to continue the decision process. Furthermore, University is not for everyone! Not everyone learns by sitting in lectures, and reading books. If I had rushed into university, I would not be absorbing anything that I am learning each day in the more applicable style at College.”
