Next year, from March 12 – 20, students at MD will have the chance to visit Ecuador on a service and learning trip. Led by Ms. Gleeson, the trip combines service and learning through travel. From high in the Andes to a trip in the Amazon, this excursion includes unforgettable experiences and accommodations in several locations.
On Thursday, June 6th, students are invited to a brief meeting in the Library at 6pm to hear about all the details and have any questions answered by the expert from EF, a company MD has partnered with for many years.
Since the final cost is based on airfare and other variables determined when travelers commit, costs and timelines will be covered at the meeting.
For this trip, the school is working with the award-winning charity WE Charity to better understand the needs of each community and then focus projects on those issues. The themes the trip will focus on include:
- Education
- Health
- Clean water and sanitation
- Alternative income and livelihood
- Agriculture and food security
