Fall is the perfect time to get cozy and snuggle up with a good book. With the weather getting colder, options for outdoor activities become more limited. Fantasy books are a perfect escape from reality and the gloomy outdoor weather. Here are four book recommendations that will be sure to keep you entertained indoors.
1. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
Whether you love action, plot twists, magic and romance, The Infernal Devices has it all. This fantasy series follows sixteen year old Tessa Gray as she discovers that she has the power to shapeshift. Many people want her power for evil and for this reason Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters, humans who fight demons. Cassandra Clare has also written The Mortal Instruments which was the source material for the popular Netflix series Shadowhunters. The Infernal Devices trilogy is an action packed ride that is full of plot twists and moments where you will be gripping the book, unable to put it down.
2. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Sarah J. Maas’s reimagining of the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast is not to be missed. This story follows a girl named Feyre, who makes a bargain with a fairy to spend the rest of her life in the fae realms, in exchange for her family’s life. As a human, Feyre is terrified by the dark fae realms, that is until she realizes that not everything is as it seems. This lush, fairytale like story with beautiful writing is both unputdownable and enchanting.
3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Six of Crows is the perfect blend of magic and mischief. It follows six criminals and outcasts who all band together to perform an impossible heist that could make them wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. It features an eclectic cast of unforgettable characters, an action packed plot and so many twists and turns along the way. Six of Crows is a two book series but after reading it you will be sure to want more of the characters and the story.
4. Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst
Life can get busy and a long fantasy series can be a huge time investment sometimes. Of Fire and Stars is perfect for anyone who loves fantasy but just doesn’t have enough time to sit down and read a six book series. Of Fire and Stars is a fantasy standalone that follows two princesses who live in a kingdom where magic is forbidden. This one book has all the magic, romance and amazingness of a six book series and is perfect for people who have a limited time for relaxation.
